Professor in Experimental Atherosclerosis, Department of Clinical Medicine 964058

A position as professor (50%) at the Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University, is vacant from 1st of August 2018. We are looking for a person who is interested in developing experimental atherosclerosis research in Aarhus to an internationally leading position, and who sees opportunities in synergistic interactions with the existing strong research groups at Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital.

A qualified applicant is expected to:

• have demonstrated an excellent scientific track record in experimental atherosclerosis research
• have strong experience as group leader to successfully manage an international research team
• have international experience and networks
• be able to deliver innovative research of the highest international standard
• take a leading role in research training, including supervision of students and mentoring of postdocs
• attract significant competitive research funding from national and international funding bodies
• have documented teaching experience, pedagogical skills and be able to teach in the mechanisms and pathology of atherosclerosis

The successful candidate is offered:

• An appointment as professor (50%) in Experimental Atherosclerosis Research
• Integration into a translational science environment spanning from basic research to clinical practice at the Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University, and the Department of Cardiology, Aarhus University Hospital.
• Support to develop scientific networks and results
• Laboratory space, shared equipment, and core facilities for experimental animal research
Required qualifications

In making the appointment, emphasis will be placed on the extent, quality and originality of the applicants body of international scientific publications, including contributions to further developing the subject area in question. Moreover, an assessment will be made of the applicants research management abilities.

  • The appointment is in accordance with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne).
  • Remuneration is in accordance with the above, and the Salary agreement catalogue for staff at Health.

    Applications must be accompanied by a CV, diploma, a list of publications, a research plan as well as a teaching portfolio. A maximum of ten of the publications of greatest relevance to the job must be submitted. If you have an assessment within the same job title (completed after March 1, 2016 at AU, Health), then this can be attached to the application.
