Profile

My educational background is in political science. I have many years of experience as a civil servant and returned to the university in 2023 to pursue a PhD, driven by a strong desire to bridge my insight and experience from practice with the world of research. I am currently working on the research project DOUBLEDEM (2026–2029), which examines national regulation of local governments, and how local governments use their room for discretion in the implementation of national policies.

Research

I do research on the interplay between central and local governments. In the DOUBLEDEM project, I investigate the developlemt in state regulation of municipalities, as well as what influences the room for discretion municipalities have to make local policy. My PhD project focused on the role of municipalities in the formulation and implementation of new legislation, where I studied the Danish 2018 “ghetto law.” My research is based on both quantitative and qualitative data sources and methods.

Teaching activities

I teach courses in public policy and public administration. I teach graduate students on central-local government relations (2026). I also teach public leaders (FMOL) in change management and implementation challenges (2026), as well as a new course on the role of the public leader called “Mission (im)possible” (2027). From 2027, I will also teach public policy in the undergraduate (BA) program in Public Policy. I have previously taught classes in public administration.
