Profile

As a tenure-track assistant professor, I am particularly interested in Pediatric Dentistry and Oral Microbiology. In my work, I primarily engage in research within the aforementioned topics as well as the education of dental students.

I graduated as a dentist from Aarhus University in 2012 and have several years of clinical experience in treating children and adolescents

Research

I research dental care for children and adolescents, with a special focus on gum diseases. Through clinical studies and collaboration with Danish municipal dental care, my goal is to improve treatments for children and families. My research helps diagnose diseases in children and adolescents at an early stage, allowing for gentler treatments.

Additionally, I have an oral microbiology research line focused on optimizing methods to detect and study antibiotic resistance in oral bacteria. Ultimately, the results contribute to more personalized patient care.

Teaching activities

I teach pediatric dentistry, microbiology, clinical hygiene, and periodontology. It’s important to me that students gain a deep understanding of both clinical and theoretical aspects. Therefore, I use various teaching methods with a focus on active student participation and feedback. I have also developed peer-feedback elements in the clinic, guidelines for treating children and adolescents with periodontal diseases, and videos on infection hygiene and proper clinical behavior. Additionally, I have contributed to the development of the master’s part of a new curriculum in dentistry as the coordinator for one of five working groups

Job responsibilities

My primary responsibility is Pediatric Dentistry and defined topics within microbiology. Additionally, I contribute to teaching in periodontology.

I also serve as the Head of the IOOS Hygiene Committee and as the IOOS representative in the Health Gender and Equality Committee.
