Profile

I do research in open schools, arts-based research, and aesthetics and didactics, and am generally interested in variations of forms of knowledge and expertise. My research alternates between empirical and theoretical studies with a basic philosophical background. It originates particularly from body phenomenology and formation, and I am inspired here by Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Aristotle, and Thomas Højrup. Recently, I have developed a special interest in 'aesthetic resonance' with inspiration from Hartmut Rosa, Gernot Böhme, and Jane Bennett, which I use together with Lise Sattrup to analyze students' engagement in open school. I work closely with several colleagues and am fundamentally and actively interested in research contributing to the development of practice. I am the education coordinator and a teacher in the master's program Didactics (aesthetics) (formerly Didactics (Material Culture)) and PhD program manager for Didactics at DPU.

Research

My research lies predominantly within three related fields: open school, arts-based research and aesthetics & didactics. In addition, I have researched in theory and practice on professional baccalaureate courses, especially in teacher training, in educational architecture with a focus on vocational colleges, as well as pedagogical philological studies of body and learning, especially around phenomenology, formation and subjectivity/intersubjectivity.

Teaching activities

I am the education coordinator and a teacher in the master's program Didactics (aesthetics) (formerly Didactics (Material culture)) with responsibility for the general planning of the education and as module coordinator for both subject modules and the joint module Didactic study design.

In addition to this, I perform the function of PhD program manager for the PhD program Didactics and participate here in the evaluation of applications, coordination of PhD courses, and PhD defenses, and taking care of the PhD students' well-being and education.

Collaborations

I am a member of the TaT - Teaching and Teachers research program at DPU, where I collaborate with Danish and international colleagues, especially in the teacher profession. In this connection, I have been editor of and contributor to the Routledge publication Teacher Ethics and Teaching Quality in Scandinavian Schools' (2024).

In addition, I collaborate with the School Service Knowledge Center for external learning environments on research, communication, and development. I focus particularly on the place's educational significance, the development of art pedagogy, and students' participation and commitment to teaching in external learning environments.

Consultancy

I participate in evaluations and advisory boards related to PhD education and educational policy programs concerning primary school. In addition, I am invited to participate in panel debates at national conferences on both open school and practical expertise (praksisfaglighed).
