The Department of Management at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for a 3-year postdoctoral position offering applicants an exciting opportunity to join a new research project on Commitment and Corruption.
The starting date is 1st of July 2020 or subject to mutual agreement.
The research project
This project is funded by AUFF and aims to advance our understanding on the role of commitment on motivating and justifying corruption. When we are committed to specific people or groups, we create bonds which lead us to neglect other people or groups. In this sense, commitments can lead to ingroup favouritism. Also, when we are committed to specific people, groups, or norms, we generate obligations that we would not otherwise have – i.e. to act in that person’s interest. These obligations provide reasons to justify actions which we may not otherwise take to be justified. In this sense, commitments can activate local norms that are in conflict with global norms. The aforementioned research questions will be tested in a series of lab, online, and field experimental studies.
The project is expected to contribute to the fields of psychology and management and will be under the supervision of Panos Mitkidis (Aarhus University & Duke University).

We are looking for a self-motivated, highly active, and productive researcher. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the overall objectives of the project by being involved in all phases of the project, including formulating research questions, experimental designs, analyses, writing articles, and consulting other researchers of the Lab (currently 1 post-doc, 3 PhD students, and several research assistants).
The position is research-oriented but may involve teaching assignments.
