Forskning

Oleguer Plana-Ripoll leads the Population Mental Health Group (PopMental), which applies advanced epidemiological methods and large-scale administrative data—such as electronic healthcare records—to investigate the causes and consequences of mental disorders. The group’s research focuses on several key areas: assessing the impact of mental disorders on health and societal outcomes, including comorbidity and mortality; exploring the social, health, and environmental determinants of mental disorders; and developing innovative strategies to enhance the accuracy of register-based studies. This includes integrating survey data to capture lifestyle and social factors typically missing from registers, and designing methods to account for changes in patient characteristics over time, which are crucial for evaluating potential interventions.
