Join us for an active day in the company of Professor Richard Donovan and colleagues from across AU-faculties.
Richard Donovan is professor of Practice in Management at McGill University in Montreal, and he will share his knowledge and experience from working with case competition within further education for 20 years.

This day is all about case competition.
Case competitions are one of many instructional strategies available to us as teachers and instructors. However, case competitions pose specific challenges to incorporate into our courses and curriculum. This workshop will examine how to use business cases and case competition when and where appropriate. During this workshop you will:

  • Get knowledge about how to plan, manage and execute case competitions
  • Learn tools and methods to support working with case competitions
  • Meet AU colleagues from across all faculties, learn from their experience with case competitions and make plans to collaborate

It will be a hands-on training session alternating with presentations and feedback. You will team up with AU-staff from other faculties to work with your either own case or one of your team member's cases during the workshop, so you are welcome to bring your own case, but this is not a requirement. No prior experience with case competition is required.

Headlines:

  • Overview: types of case competitions
  • Specific challenges and benefits applying to a cross-disciplinary set up
  • How to select, manage and train teams
  • How to be a case coach (business and coaching)
  • Tools for ideation, creating a common understanding and decision making
  • Where to look for cases
  • Presentation of- and feedback for case competitions from within AU
  • Planning of own cases in cross faculty teams

About the AU Case Competition Network
The AU Case Competition Network is aimed towards AU employees, who would like to include case competition as an educational element, or who work with case competition already. Instructors who wish to include cases as an instructional strategy within their courses are also welcome. It’s an open network, and new members can join on an ongoing basis. The network is an active forum for co-development and feedback for working with case competition in your respective fields, and for sharing experience. We meet up 3-4 times during the academic year.
