My special interest is working on medieval and early modern periods, with a particular focus on Northern Europe and Denmark. My research explores castles, fortifications, and aristocratic landscapes as key expressions of power, mobility, and social structure. Combining building archaeology, landscape analysis, and the study of material culture, I investigate everyday life, social differentiation, and cultural exchange. Methodologically, my work integrates new approaches to artefact analysis and spatial interpretation. Moreover, I contribute to the study of historic buildings, timber construction and heating systems as sources for understanding long‑term societal change.
Teaching focus: Castles & weapons, building archaeology, pottery, clothing and textile production. Tools and techniques: project management, data analysis, fieldwork.
